The Student Travel Grant is designed to support full-time students who are pursuing research and education in the field of nondestructive testing (NDT). This grant provides financial assistance for qualified travel expenses, enabling students to attend the ASNT Research Symposium. By facilitating student participation in this key industry event, the Student Travel Grant aims to foster professional development, networking, and the sharing of innovative research.

Form of Award

Reimbursement not to exceed $1,000 is provided to cover travel-associated expenses to the ASNT Research Symposium.

*Reimbursements will be granted for airfare, ground transportation, lodging, and meals through timely submission of original receipts.

Number of Awards

Up to twenty (20) recipients may be selected to receive a travel grant each year.

Eligibility

Full-time students, undergraduate or graduate, enrolled at a four-year college or university are eligible to apply.

Selection

The ASNT Foundation's Scholarships and Grants Committee will review each application received. Recipient selection will be based on the clarity and relevance of their essay. A well-written, thoughtful essay that clearly articulates the applicant's goals, NDT/NDE research experience, and the impact of attending the ASNT Research Symposium will be key to the decision-making process. Additionally, applicants presenting at the ASNT Research Symposium will be given priority during the selection process.

Application

· Applicant must submit an original essay (minimum of 500 words) summarizing their academic accomplishments, their involvement in NDT/NDE research, the role they expect NDT/NDE to play in their future career plans, and the benefits they anticipate from attendance at the ASNT Research Symposium.

· Applicant must submit one letter of recommendation from a faculty member, which includes verification of the student’s full-time enrollment.
