The Robert B. Oliver Scholarship is dedicated to honoring the contributions of Robert B. Oliver, a prominent figure in the field of nondestructive testing (NDT). This scholarship supports students who are pursuing studies in NDT or related disciplines, providing them with the financial assistance needed to achieve their educational goals.
Form of Award
The scholarship is $2,500. Up to three scholarships are awarded each year.
Eligibility
Students applying for the scholarship must be officially enrolled in an associate degree or certificate program which includes studies in NDT.
Selection
The ASNT Foundation's Scholarships and Grants Committee will review each application received. Recipient selection will be based on the clarity and relevance of their essay and coursework. A well-written, thoughtful essay that clearly articulates the applicant's previous training or education in NDT, future career goals, and how the scholarship will provide an advantage to further their career development.
Requirements
After finishing training coursework, scholarship recipients are required to submit a written report covering the following key points:
Course Overview: Briefly describe the topics covered in the training program. Highlight any specific modules or subjects that stood out to you.
Key Learnings: Outline the main concepts, skills, or knowledge you gained during the coursework. Share any real-world applications or scenarios where you can apply what you've learned.
Academic and Professional Growth: Outline the academic and professional skills you have developed during the training. Discuss how these skills align with your academic and career goals.
Scholarship Impact: Share how the scholarship has contributed to your ability to participate in the training.
Application
Applicants must submit an original essay (maximum of 500 words) summarizing any previous education in NDT, future career goals, how NDT will play a role, and how the scholarship will provide an advantage to furthering their NDT education.
Applicants must provide the name of the school or training organization where coursework will be completed.
Applicants must provide a brief description of the coursework they are or will be enrolled in.
Applicants must provide the month and year when they intend to begin coursework.
Applicants must provide the month and year when they expect coursework to be completed.
Applicants must provide a letter of recommendation from an instructor.
